The Hop Research Council’s primary objective is to fund hop research. Each May the HRC issues a Request for Proposals. The proposals are reviewed that the Summer Meeting and then a final funding decision is made at the Winter Meeting.  Decisions regarding funding priorities are made by following the Hop Research Council Strategic Plan which is updated by the membership every five years.

The Council has two project categories – Special and Ongoing.

Special projects have a funding limit of three years. After the third year the Council has the opportunity to evaluate the project and determine if it should be continued as an HRC Ongoing project.

Descriptions for all current Ongoing projects are listed on this site. In addition, two projects are included as a courtesy to the Council. These projects do not receive funding from the Council, but the project leaders provide reports to the Council and participate in meetings. The projects descriptions are divided into major research areas.
